Physician assistants (PAs) – or more broadly known as “Physician Associates” to delineate the role in providing timely and knowledgeable access to healthcare –are licensed and nationally certified healthcare providers trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions. They perform exams, order and interpret tests, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications in collaboration with a supervising physician.
The educational difference between PAs and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) is that PAs are trained under the same medical model as a physician/doctor whereas NPS are trained under a nursing model and typically have experience as a nurse.
Both of our providers earned their Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from MUSC in Charleston, where they completed rigorous academic training and extensive clinical experience across multiple specialties, including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, and emergency medicine.
